A former substance abuse counselor at Fort Bragg is accused of sexual touching of a woman seeking care at the base’s hospital, the Department of Justice announced Monday, Nov. 29.
Harell Jamison, 47, worked as a counselor for the Substance Use Disorder Care Clinic at Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg, North Carolina. A federal indictment alleges Jamison touched a woman’s genitalia, groin, and inner thigh without her permission on July 14, 2021. According to the DOJ, the alleged crime happened while the victim was in the care of Womack Army Medical Center.
Jamison was arrested Nov. 22 on charges of sexual contact without consent and sexual activity by a custodian. He has since been released, according to court records. If convicted of sexual contact without permission, Jamison faces a maximum of two years in prison. The sexual activity by a custodian count carries a maximum prison term of eight years and four months.
The Army Criminal Investigation Division is leading the case.
The Substance Use Disorder Care Clinic offers assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and aftercare with the goal of getting service members back to “full readiness status,” according to the Womack Army Medical Center website.
Officials at Fort Bragg did not respond to calls from Coffee or Die Magazine seeking comment.
