Masters of the Air — the long-awaited World War II miniseries from Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg — wrapped filming, and Hanks already has his sights on another World War II project. In addition to being an executive producer for the upcoming miniseries, the Oscar-winner has agreed to star in a sequel to his most recent World War II movie, Greyhound. The two projects come as part of a new deal between Hanks, Apple TV, and Playtone.

Masters of the Air — the so-called sequel to Band of Brothers and The Pacific — will follow entirely new characters during the costly fight for control over Europe’s skies. It marks the final installment of Hanks and Spielberg’s Greatest Generation trilogy and aims to highlight the valiant effort of the US Army’s 8th Air Force. The storied unit suffered more than half of the Army Air Force’s casualties during World War II and was also the home of 261 fighter aces and 305 enlisted gunner aces. The recently wrapped series was given a $250 million budget and will see No Time To Die director Cary Fukunaga helming the first episode. An official release date has not been announced.

Greyhound — the 2020 fictional high-seas war story — followed Hanks as Ernest Krause, the Greyhound’s captain, during the Battle of the Atlantic. The Saving Private Ryan star wrote the screenplay based on the novel The Good Shepherd by C.S. Forester and starred in the leading role. No details surrounding the sequel’s plot or cast have been released.
