Two colonels at Fort Hood were relieved of command in unrelated decisions this week, Army officials said.

Col. Jon Meredith was the commander of the 1st Cavalry Division’s 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, a major tank and armor unit. Meredith was in charge of the ABCT's seven battalions and headquarters unit. He took command in May 2021.

Col. Anthony Wilson was relieved of command of the 1st Cavalry Division’s 1st Sustainment Brigade.

Maj. Gen. John B. Richardson IV, commanding general of 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, relieved the two because of "a loss of confidence in their judgment and ability to command," according to Col. Wayne Marotto, III Armored Corps, a public affairs officer.

Both moves were based on "investigations," Marotto said, but the two cases were not related. Details on the investigations, Marotto said, would not be released.
